“Valentines Nursery is committed to developing and implementing an equal opportunities policy and not discriminating against people because of age, culture, ethnic origin, race or religion, gender, ability or language. We aim to promote equal opportunities for all our children in our care and for our colleagues.”
We have a number of very important policies in place, guiding our practice to ensure a high quality, safe and enriching environment, which is welcoming to parents, children and staff and conducive to early learning and development. All staff, students and parents receive a thorough induction to our policies and procedures when joining us. These policies include;
Valentines Nursery is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, students and parents to share this commitment.
This is our most important policy by far and underpins everything that we do as a nursery. The Safeguarding policy is regularly revisited with all staff at meetings and all staff have undertaken through safeguarding training. The policy includes the nursery’s approach to the Prevent Duty and is regularly updated to reflect current practise and statutory requirements.
Staff receive very thorough safeguarding training when they join us, during their induction with the Manager and Deputy, who are the Safeguarding Officers for the nursery. Staff practice is guided by a detailed ‘Safeguarding Handbook’ which includes all of our safeguarding procedures to support them to ensure that all children within our care are well safeguarded at all times. The nursery’s safeguarding officers attend regular training to ensure that the nursery’s practices remain secure and robust and in line with government legislation and statutory requirements.
All parents are required to read our policies and procedures during their child’s ‘settling-in’ period to ensure that they become familiar with how the Nursery functions on a day-to-day basis before their child starts at the nursery. This allows parents to develop a secure understanding of our nursery practices and how these keep children safe and secure at all times.
